6 ways to share your expertise with the local business community

Tauranga Business Chamber champions, connects, and provides capability for businesses in the Western Bay of Plenty region. One way we do this is by helping members to share their expertise with our audience.

There are many advantages of learning from others in the business community: learning different ways of approaching challenges; looking at issues from a different angle; gaining support and encouragement; and accessing specialised knowledge.

And it’s not just those within your own field or industry who benefit; often some of the most insightful knowledge can come from other sectors.

No matter where you are in your business journey — new, growing, or established — the insights and knowledge you have are valuable to others. Sharing your knowledge, and making it easily accessible, is also another way to give back to the business community and inspire others to do the same.

Tauranga Business Chamber offers several ways to share your expertise and let other Chamber members know what you and your business offer.

1. Member Directory profile

Your Member Directory listing on our Chamber website is a useful tool to boost your SEO ranking and showcase your business to our wider audience (+100,000 website hits per year). We recently moved to a new member management software and we’re in the process of working with members to update their profile in our directory. If you have any questions or would like to update yours, please email: membership@tauranga.org.nz

2. Host a Chamber event

In addition to attending our networking events, as a member you also can host a Chamber event. This could be in the form of a Business at Breakfast (morning) or Business After Five (afternoon). Chamber events are a great way to connect with the local business community, demonstrate your expertise, or build trust by providing a behind-the-scences look at your operations. We will also feature the event in our social media and other comms channels, which provides further exposure for your brand.

3. Share your own business event

A complementary benefit for members is the ability to add your events to our Member Events page on our website. It is also included and listed in our fortnightly Events & Training newsletter sent to more than 6000 people.

To submit the event, email the event name, description, image tile (e.g. 600×600), time, location and a link so people can register to membership@tauranga.org.nz

Members can also pay a modest fee to have the event featured in the Chamber’s regular newsletters and social media.

4. Contribute to our knowledge base

There is a wealth of business experience and expertise that exists within Tauranga Business Chamber members. Providing content for our website is a way to share this knowledge.

An article in your area of expertise helps to build awareness of your business and position your team as leaders in your industry. It’s also a way to help other businesses navigate the highs and lows of being in business; one of the best ways to learn from others who have been there before.

5. Advertise to our wider audience

A option exclusive to our members is the ability for paid featured member promotions. These are paid spots, at a modest cost, across our +16,000 email and social media audience. The costs per email are much cheaper than most paid social media options. Additional discounts are available to Prime and Premium members.

This is an exclusive benefit for our members, because if you want to engage our community, you need to be part of our community.
