About

Your champion for business

tauranga business chambers pillars of services

Every business needs a champion – someone in their corner, who they know has their back when they need it most. And that’s us.

Tauranga Business Chamber is the Bay of Plenty’s hub of business support, insights, and connections.

Our mission is to make it easier for you to do business.

We are a membership-based not-for-profit; led by our members, for our members. We are independent and trusted to champion local business success. Less than 5% of our revenue comes from local government.

Being a member of the Tauranga Business Chamber means you’re in good company, as we are part of both the NZ Chambers of Commerce and International Chamber of Commerce networks with more than 45 million members worldwide.

We have the Bay of Plenty’s biggest and most active database of local businesses. This ensures our communications transcend and cut through industry silos to benefit our members and partners.

Since 1904, Tauranga Business Chamber has backed businesses in the Western Bay of Plenty. We have a range of services for both members and non-members – making us the region’s go-to business hub.

Our role is to make it easier for you to do business. We connect, support and empower our community, and advocate for the best outcomes that will benefit all businesses.

We are experts in local business who can put you in touch with the right people, the right information, and the right tools to help you reach your goals.

The three pillars of Tauranga Business Chamber’s services empower our members to be connected, build capability, and be championed through our events and advocacy.

What we do

Tauranga Business Chamber exists to help businesses succeed and to strengthen Tauranga as a place to do business. We focus on core areas including business support, building capability, connection, advocacy, innovation and R&D, export support, and employment connections.

Business support through the Business Growth Hub

The Chamber operates a Business Growth Hub that provides practical support for businesses at every stage of their journey.

We help businesses build strong foundations, grow and scale sustainably, lift productivity, navigate change and regulation, and access trusted advice, funding pathways, and specialist expertise. Our support is locally grounded, with connections into regional and national programmes where relevant.

Connecting businesses through networking

Strong business communities are built on relationships. The Chamber creates trusted spaces where businesses can meet, learn, and collaborate.

Business After 5 is Tauranga’s leading monthly business networking event, bringing together owners, managers, and professionals from across the region in an informal and welcoming environment.

The Business Women’s Network supports women in business and leadership through speaker events, learning opportunities, and strong peer connections.

Advocacy for the business community

The Tauranga Business Chamber represents the collective voice of local businesses. We advocate on issues that affect business confidence, regulation, infrastructure, workforce and skills, and economic development.

We work with local and central government to ensure decisions are informed by real business insight, evidence, and experience.

Innovation and R&D support

Innovation is critical to long‑term business success and regional growth. We are the local delivery partner of MBIE’s Science and Innovation services (formerly Callaghan Innovation) to help Bay of Plenty businesses explore innovation opportunities, access R&D expertise, access RDTI (R&D tax incentive), navigate funding pathways for student and research grants, and connect with research organisations and innovation partners.

Export documentation support in the Bay of Plenty

Tauranga Business Chamber is the approved provider of export documentation services for businesses exporting from Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty.

We issue key trade documents including Certificates of Origin and other export documentation required for international trade, helping exporters comply with overseas requirements and reduce delays.

Employment support through LINKT to Employment

LINKT to Employment connects employers with work‑ready jobseekers across Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty.

Employers receive recruitment support and candidate matching, while jobseekers gain access to local opportunities, job readiness support, and pathways into sustainable employment.

Do I need to be a member?

No. You don’t need to be a member to access the majority of our services, particularly those that are publicly funded.

This includes business support services, innovation and R&D guidance, export documentation services, and employment support through LINKT to Employment.

That said, being a member gives you access to additional, exclusive benefits.

Membership offers deeper connection, stronger advocacy, and greater visibility. Members receive discounted or exclusive access to events and networking opportunities, promotional opportunities, and opportunities to influence advocacy on issues that matter to business confidence, regulation, infrastructure, and workforce development.

Members are also part of trusted local, national, and international networks through the NZ Chambers of Commerce and International Chamber of Commerce.

In short, our support is open, and our focus is helping businesses succeed. Membership offers additional value for those businesses that want to be more engaged, more connected, and more strongly represented.
