Export Certifications
Authenticate your Certificate of Origin and other export documents
Tauranga Business Chamber validates business export documents from any exporter in the Bay of Plenty, supporting your products to clear overseas customs.
You will know if documents need certification by the Chamber from details on your Letter of Credit or from instructions received from the importer.
Be sure to check the details you have received carefully, or discuss directly with the importer to ensure you meet requirements correctly the first time.
As a guideline, certification is often required:
- If you are exporting to some Middle Eastern or Latin American countries,
- If you are exporting particular foodstuffs and related products
- If a developing country has a special concession arrangement; or
- If New Zealand has a free trade or bilateral agreement with the country to which you are exporting.
We partner with Auckland Business Chamber to provide specialist and comprehensive services
While we can physically stamp your original documents at our Tauranga Business Chamber office (58 Cross Road, Sulphur Point) for countries that require wetstamped originals, some countries prefer documents to be processed online.
Your online documents are processed on our behalf by the Auckland Business Chamber – New Zealand’s centre of excellence for helping exporters authenticate their documents by an internationally recognised brand.
NEWS: In early 2026, Auckland Chamber will transition platforms from essCert to an enhanced version of Chamberdocs, their existing FTA platform. This will provide a modern, streamlined and single place for all your Certificate of Origin requirements.
If you have questions about your online process, you can contact Auckland Business Chamber directly:
Types of Export Documents
Certificate of Origin
A document to certify the place of growth, production or manufacture of goods. Required when exporting to specific countries, when requested by a consignee for customs clearance, or when stipulated in a Letter of Credit.
New Certificate of Origin Templates
The Certificate of Origin template has been updated in eCertify. This means any client submitting via eCert Webdocs will automatically be using the new template.
We wish to encourage all clients submitting wet-stamped documents via the Chamber or the online eCert Submit method to use the new template going forwards.
All electronically certified Certificates of Origin using the new template now bear the International Chamber of Commerce Accreditation seal and can be verified online.
PLEASE NOTE, the countries still requesting wet-stamped documents are typically:
Certificates of Origin and related export documents for exports to Algeria, Bahrain*, Cuba, Egypt*, Ethiopia*, Guatemala*, Iraq*, Jordan*, Kuwait*, Lebanon, Oman, Peru, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey*, Yemen and UAE*.
* These countries are known to accept electronically certified documents without issue, so it is worth checking if a wet-stamp is required.
