In a challenging economic climate, one Tauranga business is proof that the right training at the right time can lead to tangible business gains.
Archishade, a leading local provider of custom shade solutions, has completed three of the Tauranga Business Chamber’s One:Some workshops: group-based training teaching critical skills in business strategy, digital marketing, and AI.
Archishade Business Manager, Shannon Burns, says the decision to try the workshops was driven by a need to sharpen Archishade’s digital marketing strategy.
“The market is tougher at the moment, and we needed a clearer understanding of our marketing spend and where the opportunities lie – especially in Google Ads, SEO and AI.”
Shannon has since completed the Driving Website Traffic through Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Driving Website Traffic through Google Ads, and AI Business Essentials Masterclass.
“All three workshops we attended were excellent, and gave us a well-rounded view of how to approach marketing and operations in a more strategic way,” says Shannon.
“We came away with a lot of practical knowledge about how these marketing tools actually work, how to use them more effectively, and where improvements could be made.
“The AI course in particular opened our eyes to what’s possible, and how we can use AI to make adjustments and help free up staff time where it’s really needed.”
One key shift for Archishade has been in how they manage outsourced services.
“Since we outsource our Google Ads and SEO, we’ve had deeper, more informed conversations with our provider,” she says. “We’re asking better questions and have identified opportunities that weren’t previously being tapped into.”
The workshops also inspired Archishade to hire an external consultant to audit their operations and pinpoint where AI could ease bottlenecks and improve productivity.
“Learning alongside other businesses was also hugely beneficial,” says Shannon. “We gained insight not just from the trainers, but from hearing others’ real-life experiences as well.”
Chamber’s Head of Growth & Innovation, Roz Irwin, says this is exactly the kind of outcome the One:Some series is designed to deliver.
“Businesses walk away confident to implement what they’ve learned and better manage outsourced services. It leads to increased productivity, stronger financial performance, and ultimately, business growth.”
The workshops are delivered in groups of up to 10, offering a practical, affordable way for businesses to develop critical capabilities while learning alongside peers in the local business community, says Roz.
