Have your say on the BOP Regional Council Long Term Plan

Formal consultation is now open on Bay of Plenty Regional Council’s Long Term Plan 2021-2031.

The Long Term Plan consultation document sets out the big challenges for our region and looks at how council can deliver on community outcomes and improve the wellbeing of our community.

The document includes a summary of the big topics they need your feedback on, with options for you to consider on those topics and the impact they may have on your rates.

Formal consultation will be open through to March 22.

Key topics seeking your feedback this year include:

  • Climate Change
  • Sustainability funding
  • Public transport fares
  • Regional safety and rescue funding

Each of the consultation questions has a cost to consider before selecting your preferred option. The rates calculator is designed to give you an estimate of what the rates on your property would be, based on the options outlined in the Consultation Document for the Bay of Plenty Regional Council’s draft Long Term Plan 2021-2031: Rates Calculator (boprc.govt.nz)

Other consultations

While the Long Term Plan is council’s biggest planning document, later this month they will also be consulting on several other areas. These will also be available on www.participate.boprc.govt.nz

These include:

  • The Regional Land Transport Plan (from February 26)
  • Fees and Charges Policy (in relation to Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA), Building Act 2004, Flood Protection Bylaw, and Navigation Safety Bylaw)

Applications for the Community Initiative Fund will also be welcomed until March 22. Details will be available at www.boprc.govt.nz
